Alan J. Solo Professor Emeritus

Professor Solo retired in 1997. Professor Solo’s research focused on carbocyclic synthesis, especially of steroids, and structure-activity relationships, especially of steroid hormone analogs and dihydropyridine type calcium channel antgonists.

Dr. John J. Kapoor, a graduate from Professor Solo’s laboratories, has generously endowed two Assistant Professorships within the department named after Professor Solo – the Alan Jere Solo Assistant Professorships.
