Chemical Biology Program

The Graduate Program in Chemical Biology focuses on research opportunities at the interface between the disciplines of chemistry and biology. The program offers the Ph.D. degree and provides interdisciplinary training to students with backgrounds in either chemistry or biology.

Students apply to the program by initially applying to the Department of Chemistry or the Department of Biological Sciences. In the application, students indicate that they wish to be considered for admission to the Graduate Program in Chemical Biology.

Students entering this program may choose to work with program faculty members in either the Department of Chemistry or the Department of Biological Sciences and will follow an academic program that consists of a blend of courses offered by each department. This training enables participating students to synergistically blend their background expertise and newly gained knowledge in a manner that synergistically leads to new discoveries. All students in the program receive tuition waivers and teaching (first year) or research (second year and beyond) assistantships.
