Analytical Chemistry at UB

Molecular Analysis, chemical instrumentation, biosensors, chromatography, molecular surface chemistry, mass spectrometry, environmental chemistry, and electrochemistry

Analytical Chemistry at UB is a highly regarded program with a diverse group of faculty, working on research problems that demand completely new principles or improved technologies to improve chemical measurements. A variety of fundamental and applied research is performed in the areas of surface chemistry and interfaces, separation and characterization of molecules of biological importance, laser-based chemical analysis, sensors, ion transport within electroactive polymers, high-resolution mass spectrometry of polymers and biomolecules, fate and transport of pollutants in the environment, electrochemical measurements, spectroscopy, and chromatography. Interdisciplinary approaches to research are taken within and outside the division, particularly with environmental and bioanalytical related research. Students who pursue their graduate studies in analytical chemistry at UB receive a broad-based, multidisciplinary education. They learn to work as part of a team, and they are in high demand after graduation.
